*** Currently Not Accepting New Clients ***
About Me: Massage has been my passion, calling, and vocation for over 20 years. I'm one of those lucky people who truly loves their "work". This year (April 2019) I will begin a new adventure in touch therapies, working as hospice massage therapist for the first time, in addition to keeping a part-time private practice. My latest completed continuing education was the Hospital-Based Massage Therapy course through Mayo School of Health Sciences (Fall 2016), which included an internship working with post-operative patients (a wonderful experience!). Currently, I am working towards certification in Orthopedic Massage through the Academy of Clinical Massage, and I hope to complete coursework in Oncology Massage in the near future. For a more comprehensive history of my education and past work experience you can click on "About the Practitioner" in the site menu.
About the Massage: Massage sessions are customized to your specific session goals and pressure preferences. My technique is simultaneously therapeutic and deeply relaxing without any of the pain you might have experienced with other deep tissue providers. I incorporate hot stones, aromatherapy, and heat packs by request at no extra charge.I integrate multiple modalities into every session to provide relief for a wide range of conditions, such as musculoskeletal injuries (in post-acute stages), insomnia, chronic stress, fibromyalgia, chronic back pain, headaches, and much more. You will never be shorted on time. Providing you do not arrive late, every 60 minute massage is exactly 60 minutes-- the clock does not begin until the massage does. You will leave feeling relaxed and restored. Many clients experience long-term decreased pain and dysfunction, as well as increased vitality and focus for days afterward.
The massage services I offer are therapeutic only and in no way sexual. Any inappropriate comments, requests, or behaviors will result in immediate termination of your session. Depending on the offense, I may also notify the authorities.
First Session Intake Form: When you schedule an appointment you will automatically receive a confirmation email along with an online intake form. Please fill this out in advance of your first session. Be sure to answer all health and medication questions accurately, as some conditions contraindicate massage. No need to print off a copy of this form. It can be filled out and saved online.
Appointment Availability and Online Scheduling: Due to the fact that I have accepted a full-time hospice massage position during the week, I am currently only available on Fridays in my office. I am currently at capacity and not accepting new clients at this time. I use an online scheduling system. To schedule, please visit my Facebook page and click on the Book Now tab to access the online schedules: www.facebook.com/shay.bakken, or click on "Schedule a Session" in the site menu, which will take you to a booking widget. Office Location: 826 South Hastings Way, Suite #3, Eau Claire, WI, 54701. Located in the brown brick building between Marlor Jewelers and Burger King.
